DisasterAWARE Enterprise, a worldwide cloud-based SaaS risk intelligence platform for monitoring global hazards, has been chosen by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as the platform for a new External Events Notification System (EENS). The system will enable heightened natural hazard risk alerts for IAEA member state nuclear installations.Earlier this month, the University of Hawai’i’s Pacific Disaster Center (PDC) announced it had joined with the International Atomic Energy Agency to develop a one-of-a-kind advanced system to expand the level of alerts for nuclear installations to include tracking assets and near real-time predictive alerting.“Over the last 20 years, PDC has gained international recognition as a global leader in natural hazard monitoring, alerting, and risk assessment,” said PDC’s Deputy Executive Director Chris Chiesa. Chiesa explained how PDC’s technologies and methodologies, which originated to help protect the Hawaiian Islands and vulnerable communities throughout the Pacific, are now being used operationally by national governments, disaster management authorities, and nongovernmental organizations around the globe.After evaluating leading candidates, the IAEA selected the DisasterAWARE Enterprise platform to provide the expanded alerting system based on its superior global event detection and advanced modeling of geographic areas and potential impacts. The new system will be based on the commercially available DisasterAWARE Enterprise.“As a major development partner of the PDC for more than six years, we are excited to be extending our efforts to this globally critical project,” Bob Miller, CEO of Tenefit said last week during the announcement. “We are extremely proud to be selected by the IAEA to build the External Events Notification System in collaboration with PDC.”Miller added that he anticipates many more companies, large and small, will turn to the predictive risk assessment tools available through DisasterAWARE Enterprise to make data-driven decisions and mitigate the effects of disasters to drive better business outcomes.DisasterAWARE Enterprise is a major online source of comprehensive early warning disaster intelligence technology leveraging big data analytics to predict risks and convey them to companies in real time.
